Make-designed residential block in Docklands wins planning permission
Plans by Make for a 53-storey residential tower on the Isle of Dogs in east London have been given planning by Tower Hamlets council.
The scheme, developed by Meridian Property and LBS Properties, comprises a residential-led, mixed-use development consisting of 400 one, two and three-bed apartments, including on-site affordable homes.
Called Meridian Gate, the site is located beside West India Docks and is one of several that form the Marsh Wall East masterplan study area.
Frank Filskow, Make partner and the lead project architect, said: “We are excited to be working on a scheme that we hope will bring new life to this up-and-coming area.
“The slender design maximises the opportunity to provide a significant new park for residents and the local community.”
Filskow said the building’s shape meant 70% of the site will be given over to new public realm for a cafe, public gardens and a children’s playground.
