Barratt, Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon among the risers as confidence returns to the markets
Housebuilding and construction stocks edged up this morning as a degree of confidence returned to markets.
Buoyed by a sense that government rescue packages would ease liquidity fears, the FTSE 100 climbed 4% in early trading. Japan’s Nikkei index had previously finished the day a record 14% up.
In early trading the risers were:
- Barratt + 5%
- Taylor Wimpey +7%
- Persimmon +3%
- Bellway +3%
- Redrow +2%
- Bovis +1%
- Rok +6%
- Morgan Sindall +6%
- Balfour Beatty +4%
- Costain +4%
