Amsterdam

Dutch contracting giant Ballast Nedam is considering proposed offers for a takeover or merger, the firm has told the Dutch stock exchange.

The €1.3bn (£1bn) construction group operates mainly in the Netherlands and Belgium.

The firm told the Dutch stock exchange on 31 December it had received approaches from “certain Dutch and international parties” interested in a potential merger or acquisition.

The statement came after Ballast Nedam completed the sale of its offshore division to fellow Dutch contractor Van Oord.
