First meeting to discuss Dubai's bid to be held on Monday while working group plans Dubai's development over next decade
Dubai is planning to bid to host the 2020 Olympics. The first meeting to discuss the bid will be held on Monday. The talks will be chaired by Dubai’s crown prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, news agency WAM reported.
Other cities that have expressed an interest in bidding for the 2020 Olympics include Delhi, Istanbul and Budapest, and jointly, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Earlier this week the sheikh urged the members of a high level working group set up a plan for Dubai’s development over the next decade to make a bid for the games.
He made the comments at the first meeting of the Supreme Organising Committee of the Working Group of Dubai 2020 this week.
According to local press reports, he said: “Nothing is impossible as long as we have the determination for change."
The sheikh launched his vision fro Dubai 2020, which aims to map out the emirates’ progress, along with the working group in June
