Accused in suspected quick-hitch failure accident will return to court in February
A man has been re-bailed today following his arrest on charges of manslaughter after the death of a worker on the DLR in December.
Harold Sheridan, 58, was killed on the morning of 3 December, when he was crushed by machinery while working on the Skanska GrantRail development in London.
The incident triggered the creation of a Strategic Forum subgroup dedicated to quick hitch safety, after a source said it was believed the accident was caused by a quick-hitch attachment that came off, releasing a digger bucket, which killed Sheridan.
British Transport Police later confirmed the arrest of a 60-year-old man “in connection with the death of a man who was crushed by machinery”.
They confirmed today that he had been re-bailed until early February.
