Sheppard Robson-designed scheme includes 223 homes, a Morrisons foodstore and an oriental retail quarter
Development Securities has submitted plans for a 400,000ft2 regeneration scheme in Brent, north west London.
The seven-acre site – previously home to a now-derelict oriental and far eastern retail complex, Oriental City – will deliver a 80,000ft2 Morrisons foodstore, 223 homes and additional retail facilities under a scheme designed by architect Sheppard Robson.
The development will include new retail facilities for the oriental and far eastern community, including a 636-seat food court, banqueting restaurant and a range of retail units, including an oriental grocer.
Subject to planning permission, redevelopment will begin in 2013, with Morrisons and the oriental and far eastern food court opening in 2014.
The residential elements will be delivered in phases, with the first units completed by 2016.
Sheppard Robson has designed a scaled down version of its consented one million ft2 retail-led scheme for the site.
The architect won planning for the earlier scheme, 399 Edgware Road, back in 2006.
