Rem Koolhaas’ Office for Metropolitan Architecture has won the design competition for a cultural centre and transport hub in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen
The entry for the Shenzhen Crystal Island, created in collaboration with Chinese architect Urbanus, beat off competition from 31 other designs. Plans include 20ha of parks and gardens, clusters of pavilions and an underground network linking train and subway stations.
