Contractor sought for twin bored tunnels 2.6km in length
Crossrail has advertised the final running tunnel contract for the £16.9bn cross-London rail project.
The notice for Package C310 - Thames Tunnel was published in the Official Journal of the European Union and comprises the construction of twin 6.2m diameter bored tunnels from Plumstead Portal to North Woolwich Portal.
The length of each drive is approximately 2.6km.
Work will include the sumps for tunnel drainage, cross passages, a shaft at Plumstead, portal structures and launch chambers at Plumstead and North Woolwich.
As well as the tunnel itself, the scope of the work includes the design and construction of a segment manufacturing facility at the Plumstead Portal.
Expressions of interest must be submitted by 24 March 2010.
