Barking scheme being carried out in JV with housing association
Housebuilder Countryside and housing association Notting Hill Housing have formed a joint venture to deliver more than 900 homes in Barking, east London.
The 4.4ha site at Fresh Wharf has been designed by Metropolitan Workshop and will see a mix of residential buildings, including townhouses and towers rising up to 15 storeys, and a new park.
Notting Hill Housing has agreed to acquire 157 of the new homes from the joint venture to run as private sector housing
Work on the 911 home scheme will start on site next year with completion scheduled for 2026.
Graham Cherry, chief executive of Countryside Partnerships South, said: “The site is identified as one of the largest residential sites within the Barking Town Centre Area Action Plan, which makes a significant contribution towards the council’s target of some 6,000 new homes.
