Preferred bidder due next spring
Birmingham City council has offcially begun its search for a development partner for its plans at a 42-acre site in the city centre.
The site, on the city’s former wholesale markets, sits next to retail developer Hammerson’s Bullring shopping centre and New Street station and the proposed HS2 terminus at the city’s Curzon Street.
The proposed masterplan unveiled at the Mipim property show last year is expected to deliver over 300,000 sq m of new floor space and 2,000 new homes.
The council is aiming to have selected a preferred bidder by March next year.
Interested parties must submit a request to participate by 12 September.
