The 450-home second phase of Countryside’s redevelopment of the Grahame Park Estate has been given the go ahead by Barnet Council.
The £100m phase, the next part of a Jestico & Whiles’ designed masterplan, aims to create a new community with major infrastructure improvements, improved transport links, and community health facilities.
The project will be delivered by Countryside Properties and Genesis Housing Association, alongside the London Borough of Barnet.
Proposals for the plans were tested with local opinion in 2003 with 79% voting in favour of the proposals. Genesis and its partners claim to have, as yet, received no objections to the plans.
Leader of Barnet Council, Councillor Richard Cornelius commented, “securing a successful planning permission for the next phase is an important next step”.
The overall £800m transformation of Grahame Park will take place over the next 15 years, and will result in an estimated 3000 new homes.
