10-year contract is for Bradwell’s Magnox South site
Costain has won a £75m deal for clean-up work at Bradwell nuclear power station.
The firm was awarded the contract for Magnox South as part of Bradwell’s accelerated decommissioning programme. Similar programmes at other Magnox sites, such as Hinkley Point, Sizewell and Oldbury, are still to be awarded. The contract will be worth £75m over 10 years with possible extensions.
The work will involve designing plant and equipment, and procuring, constructing, operating and refurbishing plant prior to transfer to further sites.
Andrew Wyllie, Costain’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted to have secured this contract. It is testimony to Costain’s growing reputation within the nuclear industry as one of the few major contractors in the UK with the capability to carry out such complex and critical work.”
