Infrastructure contractor to build welsh M4 link for Port Talbot
Infrastructure contractor Costain has won a £59m contract to build 4.5km of dual carriageway from the M4 to Port Talbot.
The contract, with Neath Port Talbot council, will link junctions 38 and 42 on the motorway to the Welsh town. The work includes railway realignment work, and the construction of a new main entrance into Port Talbot Tata Steelworks.
Andrew Wyllie, chief executive of Costain, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract for Port Talbot which again underlines our position as a market leader in the construction and maintenance of highways in the UK.
Before Christmas it emerged that Costain is currently attempting to buy listed engineering and project management consultant Mouchel. Mouchel’s board has rejected its £118m bid.
