A joint venture between Costain and Skanska has won its second enabling works contract on Crossrail
A Costain statement said the Pudding Mill Lane portal contract in east London was similar in value, scope and size to a £15m deal it won for the Royal Oak portal in March, which was the first tunnel-related construction contract for Crossrail.
The Pudding Mill Lane portal, which is close to Stratford and next to the existing overland railway, will act as the transition ramp for Crossrail trains when they enter and leave the north-east section of the central London tunnels.
Costain has also been awarded an early contractor involvement contract by Lancashire council to link the A589 to the M6 for £139m.
