Joint venture will upgrade Grade I listed Eastern Range station building
A joint venture team with Costain and Laing O’Rourke has won a £30m contract at King’s Cross, London.
The deal will see the team upgrade the 4-storey, Grade 1 listed Eastern Range building adjacent to one of the platforms at the station.
The team will also build a new platform, Platform Y, beneath the Eastern Range building, replacing the existing taxi road.
Andrew Wyllie, Chief Executive, said: “This success at King’s Cross follows on from the outstanding achievement at St. Pancras where we are coming to the end of similar works as part of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link upgrade contract.”
The contract is the first step in Network Rail’s £400m redevelopment of King’s Cross station, designed to increase capacity ahead of the 2012 Olympics.
