Research centre scheme has £11m price tag
Sheffield university is looking for a contractor to build an £11m advanced manufacturing research centre at a site near Preston.
Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre North West, whose research facilities and specialist equipment are currently located at the University of Central Lancashire’s Preston campus, plans to open the new £25m facility at the Samlesbury Aerospace Enterprise Zone in 2021.
The main construction contract for the project is worth around £10.8m and is expected to take just over 12 months to complete. Work will get underway next March.
Firms need to register their interest by 31 October.
The university is looking to invite five firms to tender, with the shortlisted companies due to be notified by 8 November.
