The Office of Fair Trading is this week to begin taking oral submissions from contractors implicated in its investigation into the construction industry.

Almost three months after the OFT released its statement of objection accusing 112 firms of anti-competitive behaviour, it is calling in contractors to meet investigators before they rule whether or not competition law has been infringed.

This will be a chance for contractors to explain in person the circumstances surrounding the allegations.

It is understood that a number of smaller contractors named by the OFT have clubbed together to employ a single QC to present their collective oral submission.
