Kier has won a £31m batch of schools in the south of England.
Building understands the contractor has beaten off competition from Interserve for the £31m batch of schools, the latest to come to market through the £400m first phase of the government’s flagship Priority School Building Programme (PSBP).
The batch comprises seven schools in the local authority areas of Bristol, Devon, Isle of Wight, Poole, Southampton and Wiltshire.
The news comes after Building revealed that Carillion beat off competition from Bam Construct for the £47m North-west 1 batch of schools.
That batch covers seven schools in the local authority areas of Blackpool, Cheshire West and Chester, Halton, Manchester and Tameside.
It is the first batch of schools won by Carillion through the first phase of the PSBP.

The schools included in the south capital batch are:
- St Ursula’s E-ACT Primary Academy, Bristol
- Haytor View Primary School, Devon
- The Grove Primary School, Devon
- Oakfield Primary School. The Isle of Wight
- The Montacute School, Poole
- The Cedar School, Southampton

The EFA said work would now progress to the planning application for The Cedar School and the design stage for the remaining schools.
