The ONS revises its fourth quarter figures for 2010
Poor weather was partly responsible for negative growth rates in construction output for the fourth quarter of 2010, according to revised figures released by the Office for National Statistics.
Despite the gloom, there was some good news for the sector as total output in the fourth quarter was up 8% on figures recorded during the same quarter of 2009.
The total volume of construction output in the fourth quarter of 2010 fell by 2.5% compared with the third quarter, an improvement on the original ONS estimate of -3.3%.
There was also a fall of 2% for all new work and repair and maintenance fell by 3.7%. This was also down 3.3% compared with 2009.
