October output also down 2.7% on the same period last year
Construction output fell by 1.1% in October compared with the preceding month, ONS figures have revealed.
The fall suggests construction could be on course for a fall in output in the fourth quarter as October is the first of three months to contribute to fourth quarter output figures.
October output was also down 2.7% on the same month last year.
The drop follows a 0.2% drop on average over the third quarter of this year.
Despite the reported fall, Simon Rawlinson, head of strategic research at EC Harris, said it was “dangerous” to read too much into early statistical releases.
The ONS has tended to upgrade output figures once more data becomes availabe, although the organisation implemented changes to try to combat this trend of constant upward revisions last month.
