Parkeray claimed the overall title as Construction Industry Dragon Boat champions 2022

The Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenge returned for a very successful 22nd year last month for an event that brought together more than 360 men and women from across the industry and raised more than £17,000 for the CRASH charity.

A total of 35 boats entered this year’s competition, competing in teams of 11 (up to ten paddlers and a drummer). The crews took to the water at the West Reservoir in Stoke Newington, north London, paddling against each other in a quest to be crowned the champions of 2022.

The final was evenly matched with only one second separating the fourth boat from first place. In the end it was fit-out contractor Parkeray who took the title in the firm’s first year of competing. Parkeray also won the prize for raising the most money.

Landscape contractor Maylim placed second, while L+C Engineers and Jackson Civil Engineering placed third and fourth respectively.

In the mixed division, which was open to any team with at least five women, contractor 8Build claimed the top prize, while two teams from Eckersley O’Callaghan came in second and third.

The team from legal firm Beale & Co won the prize for best dressed - donning blonde wigs and pink shirts in honour of the film Legally Blond.

Together, the teams raised just over £17,600 through entry donations, a raffle and fundraising for CRASH’s construction projects helping homelessness charities and hospices.
