The Construction Confederation is in consultation with staff over redundancies following a recent shake-up of contractors’ industry bodies.

The organisation is to be scaled back following the creation of a UK Contracting Group, due to launch in the new year, and a construction council within the CBI. It is expected to be wound down eventually, although this has not been confirmed.

Stephen Ratcliffe, the group’s chief executive, said: “We are in consultation with a number of staff who may face redundancy at the end of the year.”

The National Federation of Builders, which belongs to the Construction Confederation, is consulting its members on its future. Fellow member the Civil Engineering Contractors Association is exploring options, including potential alliances.
