Paul Maguire goes after three years at firm

Multiplex has carried out a rejig of its senior team with the firm confirming that commercial director Paul Maguire has left.

The 22 Bishopsgate builder, which became the first major contractor to shut its sites in the wake of the covid-19 lockdown, has promoted chief operating officer Callum Tuckett to the board of Multiplex Construction Europe along with head of finance Zahida Hanif.

Former board member Maguire joined Multiplex three years ago from Laing O’Rourke but has now left the firm.

Others to step down as directors include John Ballantyne, construction director for the regions, who has been at the business since 2009.

And George Assimakopoulos, who joined in 2001 to manage the firm’s 199 Knightsbridge £170m luxury residential scheme opposite Hyde Park Barracks which it completed in 2005, has also stepped down as a director.

But the pair are staying with the firm.

Last November, Multiplex’s UK chief executive Ashley Muldoon left the firm after 22 years with the business.
