Contractor begins work on civils package of Four Ashes plant in Satffordshire

North-east-based Clugston Construction has begun work on the £40m civils package on a £100m waste-to-energy plant in Staffordshire.

The Four Ashes plant is a joint venture between Veolia and French process contractor CNIM and once complete will handle 300,000 tonnes of waste a year and generate 23MW – enough electricity to power 32,000 homes.

Stephen Martin, Clugston chief executive, said: “This is a really exciting project to be involved with, one of the most challenging and exciting projects of its kind in the UK today.

“We are really looking forward to working on the facility with our technology partner CNIM and our local supply chain. It will bring real benefits in terms of both jobs and boosting the county’s economy.”
