CITB submitted an application for over £1m of funding to help prepare workers for the Green Deal

CITB-ConstructionSkills is seeking extra Green Deal training cash, with a bid for new funding from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

CITB submitted an application for over £1m of funding last Friday, which includes an application with other sector skills councils to prepare workers for the Green Deal.

It is understood to have been prompted by industry frustration at how to meet Green Deal skills needs.

Steve Geary, director of skills strategy at CITB, said the funding will help deliver a range of Green Deal qualifications with training providers.

Geary said: “We have applied for funding to the UK Commission for Employment and Skills and if successful will put in place a detailed skills action plan across the UK.”
