With new legislation about recycling for the construction industry in place, CIOB has teamed up with WRAP to explain what to do
The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) have released an online broadcast about Site Waste Management Plans (SWMP). These became obligatory this week.
The construction industry generates 100m tonnes of waste each year of which 20m tonnes ends up in landfill.
Michael Brown, CIOB deputy chief executive, said: “We wanted to give guidance on compliance with the new law, information about best practice and exemplars of SWMPs in action [as well as] the challenges and financial and social benefits of SWMPs.”
Viewers can access industry guidance, including the WRAP SWMP template, good practice guidance and recycled content toolkit.
