David Wilson of Morgan Ashurst wins coveted title for managing De Grey Court project at York St John University
A Morgan Ashurst employee has been crowned Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Construction Manager of the Year 2009.
David Wilson from Shipley, West Yorkshire, gained the prize for his work on De Grey Court at York St John University, which involved the construction of a three-storey teaching block and the refurbishment two grade II listed houses, all within 68 weeks and finished on time before the start of a new academic year.
Wilson was also awarded a gold medal in the New Building and Refurbishment £7m-£10m category.
He said: “Since starting my career in construction 20 years ago as a management trainee, I have always looked up to managers who could run large, complex construction projects.
“I feel with the successful completion of the York St John University scheme, I can now apply to join the ranks of those managers.”
