Family await report on accident in which victim fell through a skylight
Postscript
A chartered surveyor who fell through a roof on a building site last Thursday is now in a “stable” condition.
The man, in his fifties, fell 4m through a skylight at Ascot Doors' industrial unit in Basingstoke.
He has since had two operations on his right hand and been sedated for five days. Southampton Hospital has now downgraded his status from “critical” to “stable”.
Surgeons are hoping to gradually reduce his level of sedation in an effort to assess the full extent of his injuries.
A friend of the victim said his family were anxiously awaiting the preliminary report from the Health and Safety Executive, which according to a spokesperson is still being prepared.
The RICS has offered them support through its charitable organisation Lionheart, which offers assistance to families of RICS members involved in accidents.
