Cafe forms part of restoration of gardens at historic stately home
Images have been released of a new cafe in the gardens of London’s Chiswick House.
Designed by architect firm Caruso St John, the cafe seats 80 people inside and more outside on a forecourt and in the ’arcade’ which links inside and outside spaces.
Exposed white concrete was used for the structure, whose thermal mass is used with a natural ventilation system to keep the building’s interior cool in summer. The cafe is part of a larger project to restore the gardens of Chiswick House.
Mouchel was project manager on the job and the mechanical and electrical engineer was Roger Parker Associates.
