A Carillion recruitment subcontractor working on a renewal project for Network Rail has been killed after being struck by a train in Lincolnshire
The incident took place yesterday afternoon.
The man was working for Sky Blue, a recruitment subcontractor for Carillion.
A Carillion spokesman said: “Tragically, we can confirm that an employee working for Sky Blue on behalf of Network Rail was fatally struck by a train at Sykes Lane, Saxilby in Lincolnshire.
“An investigation has been launched to establish exactly what happened. Our thoughts are with the family at this very sad time.”
A spokesman for Network Rail said: “Tragically at 1.55pm [yesterday] a contractor working on behalf of Network Rail was fatally struck by train at Sykes Lane, Saxilby.
“Investigations are ongoing into what happened but our thoughts are with the family.”
