Mowlem Environmental Sciences Group to be sold to testing specialist Inspicio for £16m.

Contractor Carillion has sold the environmental services arm of Mowlem for £16m.

Inspicio, a recently-formed testing and conformity specialist, is set to acquire Mowlem Environmental Sciences Group (MESG). Carillion said in a statement that completion is expected shortly.

MESG was the specialist environmental division of contractor Mowlem, Carillion acquired on 23 February 2006.

MESG offers technical advice, laboratory testing and specialist contracting services. Carillion said these activities were non-core businesses and did not fit its growth strategy.
