Hospital project worth £153m brings contractor to round number
Construction is set to begin on Carillion's 50th PPP scheme after a £153m medical facility in Hertfordshire reached financial close.
The Surgicentre, to be built by Carillion's healthcare services specialist Clinicenta, is to sit alongside Lister Hospital in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

The project will involve the construction of a £31m building, followed by a five-year support services contract worth £122m. Carillion will invest £5.6m of equity into the building of the hospital, on which construction will begin immediately.
The project marks Carillion's 50th public-private partnership project to reach financial close. Some 18 of these have been in the healthcare sector.
John McDonough, chief executive of Carillion, said: “We are delighted to have achieved financial close on this prestigious project, Carillion's 50th public private partnership project, of which 18 have been healthcare facilities with a total capital cost of around £1bn.
