Aspers has been named as the casino operator for a planned £700m leisure complex in Cardiff Bay.
A planned £700m leisure complex in Cardiff has been boosted by the appointment of a casino operator to be the driving force for the scheme.
Aspers, part of the Aspinall Packer Group, has been named as casino operator for the 80-acre International Sports Village in Cardiff Bay. Aspers, Cardiff Council and developer Orion Land will now prepare a case for the government to give the development permission to go ahead with a regional casino.
Richard Olsen, chairman of site developer Orion Land and Leisure (Cardiff), said: “We are committed to creating an internationally recognised development on the peninsula site which the people of Cardiff will be proud of. For a long time, we have recognised the benefits that a regional casino will bring to the city enabling Cardiff’s and our own original vision for the site to be fulfilled.”
The development will also include a 4,000 multi-purpose arena, an ice pad suitable for international competition, swimming pools, a hotel and an entertainment complex.
