Public and private sector frameworks will be divided between the consultants on a regional basis
Consultants Capita Symonds, WSP and WYG Engineering have been appointed to two major Building Services frameworks for Mapeley Estates.
The four year public and private sector frameworks, which will cover over 200 refurbishment projects across the UK in 2009, will be divided between the consultants on a regional basis:
? Wales, East Midlands and West Midlands – Capita Symond
? London, South East & South West England, East England - WSP
? North East & North West England, Yorkshire & Humberside, Scotland and N Ireland - WYG Engineering
By allocating consultants in this way, the framework eliminates the need for transactional working (ie ‘mini tendering’), as well as promoting the advantages of continuity of the supply chain including planning of workload, input into design, creation of savings and continual improvement.
The frameworks will be based around collaborative/partnership working, including open book with incentivised schemes and enhanced health and safety standards. The public sector framework has been set up as a central purchasing body and is fully OJEU compliant, as well as being open for use by other public sector bodies.
Michael Hewitt, director at Capita Symonds, said: “We will be working with the contractors and architects appointed on Mapeley’s projects in a collaborative manner to provide a range of consultancy support services.
“This will include strategic advice regarding the latest sustainable solutions associated with portfolio asset management, capital works and building refurbishment.”
Mapeley’s other frameworks – which are being announced over the coming weeks - will cover contractors, architects, CDMC and asbestos surveyors.
