Carillion bought external facing business in 2008 as part of acquisition of Alfred McAlpine
The Capita Group has announced it is acquiring Carillion's external IT services business for £36m.
Carillion IT Services is the external facing IT services business of Carillion, which was itself acquired by Carillion in February 2008 as part of its acquisition of Alfred McAlpine.
It offers outsourcing and network infrastructure solutions to external clients. The business is forecasting an operating profit for the year ending 31 December 2009 of £3.7m on a turnover of £66m.
Noel McNulty, managing director of Carillion IT Services, said: "I am confident that bringing together CITS with Capita IT Services will mean that we are able to offer even more comprehensive solutions to all our clients and realise our full combined potential in the market."
CITS employs about 440 staff across a number of locations in the UK, including 190 in Scotland.
