CABE this week unveiled the 14-strong shortlist for the prime minister’s Better Public Building Awards.
The list includes Michael Hopkins’ Evelina Hospital in Lambeth, south London, and Richard Rogers’ Cardiff National Assembly for Wales.
The shortlist also highlights the rise of the multifunctional public buildings with John McAslan’s Lavender Sure Start centre in Mitcham, Surrey, DSDHA’s John Perry Children Centre in Dagenham, Kent, and David Morley’s The Hub in Regent’s Park, London.
Now in its sixth year, the competition awards design quality and procurement of publicly funded building schemes. The shortlist also includes: Studio E’s City of London Academy, London; Water Activities Centre Norfolk; and Salcey Treetop Walk in Northamptonshire.
