Paul Kirkup takes up the story: "These chaps were working on the house of one of my neighbours, and came round to borrow a piece of wood to spread the load from the legs of one of the scaffold frames which was resting on a coal bunker. Nice to know that they had risk assessed the possibility of damaging it, but that's where common sense seemed to stop."
