Building’s deputy news editor Tom Broughton was last week named New Business Journalist of the Year by the Periodicals Training Council.
Broughton, 23, was recognised in the New Journalist Awards, which was open to all British journalists with up to three years’ professional experience.

He was chosen from a shortlist of 10 that included two other Building writers: business correspondent Mark Leftly and reporter Matthew Richards.

The judges described Broughton as an “excellent investigative reporter, with a great eye for news” and “a superb all-rounder”.

Tristan McConnell of sister magazine Property Week was highly commended in the same category.
