School openings part of 26-school building programme
Seven Abu Dhabi schools designed by architecture practice Broadway Malyan have been opened, as part of the government’s 26-school building programme.
The seven schools will provide 7,000 student places and 120,000 sq metres of new teaching space.
The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) is halfway through the first phase of its school building programme.
Broadway Malyan was originally appointed to the programme in 2009, and was retained to supervise construction of the schools.
Director Ian Apsley said: “The completion of the schools marks a key milestone for education in the region, as they create a new breed of spatial and learning environments in Abu Dhabi’s schools and blend international best design practice with contemporary sustainable principles. The result is testament to the practice’s successful approach to integrated place-making in the wider Middle East region.”
