Tower includes Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners among its tenants
The owners of the Cheesegrater – the Leadenhall Building - say they are in advanced talks for a possible sale of their interests in the City skyscraper.
Real estate giant British Land owns the 225m tower with Oxford Properties in a 50/50 joint venture.
Among its tenants is the building’s architects, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. The tower was built by Laing O’Rourke.
“It is not certain that these discussions will lead to a sale of the building,” the joint owners said in a statement. “Further announcements will be made as appropriate.”
The Cheesegrater suffered two steel bolts coming lose in late 2014 and cost steelwork contractor Severfield £6m in remedial works to replace nearly 4,000 bolts on the building.
Make has just won planning approval to build a 37-storey tower with developer Brookfield where Leadenhall Court – currently occupied by Amazon – now stands. It is thought work on the tower could begin next year.
