Birmingham City Football Club has unveiled this image of a proposed £300m sports village in Saltley, east Birmingham, designed by HOK Sport and RTKL.

The project will include a 55,000-seat stadium, which will be the only ground in the country able to host rugby, cricket, football and athletics. Among other attractions at the 24 ha site will be a casino complex, a hotel and a soccer dome. The scheme will only get the go-ahead if the Gambling Commission grants a super casino licence for the project, as casino company Las Vegas Sands is paying £117m of the construction costs.
