Whitbybird Bridges Team, a subsidiary of consulting engineer Whitbybird, has won a competition to design a pedestrian bridge in Cambridge. When completed in early 2006 it will be the first bridge to be built over the Cam for 40 years. The team, which includes sculptor Gerry Judah, beat off rival bids from Wilkinson Eyre, Marks Barfield and Arup.
