UK plasterboard firm hopes plan for new factories will kill takeover bid from St Gobain.

BPB has revealed to shareholderes long-term plans to tave off the hostile takeover from St Gobain.

UK plasterboard firm BPB updated investors about development plans for the Vaujours factory facility. When the site is upgraded by late 2008 it is expected to increase BPB’s national plasterboard capacity by about 25% to meet expected growth of around 5-6% per year.

The company also announced other openings, including a new medium-sized UK plant at Sherburn, near Leeds, that is expected to be up and running by 2007.

BPB is also planning to increase nternational capacity in Romania with a new plant next to BPB’s plaster factory in Turda.

The firm is also planning a 26,000,000m 2 capacity facility near Madrid expected late in 2006 and three medium-sized plants in Eastern Europe by 2010.
