Cardiff firm bags contracts to build Royal Mail delivery office and Territorial Army cadet centre
Boyes Rees Architects has won a £3.5m contract to design a new Royal Mail delivery office and a Territorial Army cadet centre in Grays, Essex.
The Cardiff-based company has been appointed by Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation to build a 1,500m2 Royal Mail delivery office and a 700m2 army centre and joint cadet building, as the existing buildings are being demolished to make way for a community hospital.
The practice is on the Royal Mail supplier framework and has previously delivered major projects for the Royal Mail including the £65m distribution centre at Coventry airport and £2m vehicle and transport workshops in Southampton.
Niall Lindsay, chief executive of the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation, said: “The relocation of these twoorganisationsforms an integral part in the plan to deliver a much needed new community hospital to the population of Thurrock.”
The project is due to complete by July 2011.
