Bovis Homes Planning submits planning application for 681-acre site in East Midlands

Bovis Homes has submitted a planning application for a major mixed-use extension to Wellingborough town in Northamptonshire.

The 681-acre scheme, currently known as Wellingborough East, is one of the first steps of the East Midlands regeneration programme outlined by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). It will include up to 3,200 new homes and 167 acres of employment uses for national and regional businesses.

The project, which will be implemented by Bovis Homes Central Region, will also provide new transport links and a multi-modal transport interchange based at the existing Midland Mainline station.

Paul Boatman, area projects director of Bovis Homes Central Region: “Wellingborough East will be fully integrated with the town, but will nonetheless have a distinct identity of its own. The development will encourage a high level of environmental responsibility and promote economic success”.

Bovis Homes has submitted plans for the scheme to the Borough Council of Wellingborough in conjunction with its development partners William Davis and Hallam Land Management. Consent is anticipated in early 2005. £10.6m of local infrastructure funding has already been approved by the ODPM’s Sustainable Communities Fund.
