David Ritchie, the chief executive of Bovis Homes, said the housebuilder would focus on buying land in 2010 in order to get more sites open.

Ritchie said the number of sites the firm could sell on would reduce this year from 85 to 70 because of lack of available land. Bovis Homes’ full-year 2009 results showed a £4.8m profit on revenues of £281.5m, compared to a £78.7m loss last year on turnover of £282.3m. It completed 1,803 homes in 2009 compared with 1,817 the previous year
