Work on the exhibition and events centre designed by Denton Corker Marshall is expected to start next year
Developer Lend Lease has secured planning permission to build an exhibition and events centre at Bluewater shopping centre.
Dartford Borough Council has granted permission for the 5,200m2 project, which has been designed by architects Denton Corker Marshall. Construction on the scheme is expected to start mid next year, with completion scheduled for late 2008.
The development, which will be integrated into the existing centre, will include a reconfiguration of existing areas of the Water Circus.
Peter Allward, head of fund and asset management, said: “An events venue within a retail destination is a first in the UK. The events and exhibitions that will run at the venue will add a whole new dimension to the guest experience at Bluewater, bringing events that would normally require travel into central London directly to the shoppers.”
