Tottenham Court Road station redevelopment is part of £16bn Crossrail scheme

London Underground has opened the bidding for the redevelopment of Tottenham Court Road station in a deal worth up to £300m.

The contract, which is one of a series for work on the central London section of the £16bn Crossrail scheme, will include piling, tunnelling, construction and civil engineering work.

Construction on the station is set to start in January, while major tunnelling work will start in 2010. The project is expected to complete by 2017.

Companies have until 1 December to express an interest.
