The tool is designed to help clients understand the relationship between costs, time and quality and takes into account important issues such as the environment and community. The toolkit can be linked to other value management tools such as BREEAM, Carbon Footprint and WRAP. F+G has used the toolkit on various school projects and has integrated the toolkit into its core project and cost management service offerings. The judges were impressed by how the tool conveyed information in a concise and understandable manner.

This firm’s focus on innovation is guaranteed to impress clients as it has developed user-friendly databases that deliver cost and time efficiencies. Innovative tools include the Project Management Control System, which helps monitor costs through the web, and the Interactive Cost Control System which enables clients to estimate costs at pre and post-contract project stage. It has developed key performance indicators for housing clients and has set up Learning and Best Practice workshops to share expertise within the housing sector.

Staffordshire County Council
Staffordshire’s Property Consultancy has developed two IT packages which have improved the efficiency and quality of its service. The Financial Reporting System provides automated interim project reports for clients based on information provided by the QS. And thanks to a the Standard Filing System QSs now work in a paperless office. Emails and documents are automatically filed into project folders and there is a sophisticated search facility.

Turner & Townsend
The LifeTTime initiative enables whole life cost data to be captured and benchmarked on all Turner & Townsend’s projects. The model makes differentiations between cost and value allowing clients to assess projects with greater clarity. It will be used on commissions as part of the firm’s Target Improve and Control Cost Management Procedures.
