Architect beats shortlist including Shedkm and Rick Mather to design a building in Nottingham’s trendy Lace Market district.
Architect Benson+Forsyth has won a competition to design a £25m development in Nottingham’s Lace Market conservation area.
Benson+Forsyth beat a shortlist that included Shedkm, HBMA, Rick Mather and Stanton Williams. The developer Bildurn Properties held the competition with the backing of Nottingham City Council.
The half-acre site close to the city centre will house two-to-three levels of large retail units, and will include floors for possible hotel and leisure use.
Gordon Benson from Benson+Forsyth said: “We are extremely pleased to have been chosen to design a modern, eye-catching building in a part of Nottingham which has a strong industrial heritage, and has emerged as a fashionable and desirable part of this vibrant city.”
Designs will be submitted for planning approval in March
